BREATHE EASY

OVERVIEW

People who suffer from mental health problems want to go on vacations like everyone else but find the process of planning the trip and many modes of travel extremely taxing. The challenge was designing an app that would ease multiple symptoms for multiple mental health problems.
I used design thinking to design an app that would decrease the target users stress and increase the number of travelers with mental health issues.

Research

With research goals in mind, I gathered contextual information about the mental health app market and identified a baseline of what users are looking for in terms of relief from their symptoms.

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

Findings

– Personalization is key
– There are no apps with the capability to store all trip information
– Mental Health apps do not offer a variety of tools or emergency help

USER INTERVIEWS

Findings

– Users become overwhelmed double checking trip info. Especially when that information is located in multiple places.
– When overwhelmed users have difficulty asking for help
– Users need a way to calm themselves quietly, and easily

Design and User testing

USER FLOW

PAPER PROTOTYPING

Findings:

– S.O.S. button needed to be red so that users could easily find and use it
– Build a way to organise all trip data to make it more accessible to user

Latest Iteration

FOR THE FUTURE

– Do another round of user testing
– Build section for breathing exercises, meditations, and calming games
– Double check app for accessibility
